Origami Weekly 2010 - Week 5

Hey there, sorry we're late, we've been real busy. Here's Issue 5. The Pentagon challenge is over, and we have a new contest, with a twist.

  1. I love that eurypterid...but that particular taxon (it appears to be Eurypterus, well known from Silurian rocks of New York and Ontario was pretty small overally; most individuals would be about the size of your hand. There certainly were gigantic eurypterids, though -- Pterygotus (see here for reconstruction) and, more monstrously though not quite as large, Mixopterus, which Kamiya Satoshi has already tackled origamically.

  2. Ah, you're right. I meant I had been looking at eurypterids, not just eurypteruses. Megalograptus in particular. Seeing the large Megalograptus, Mixopterus and Pteroglotus I assumed that they were all of similar size. Of course that makes about as much sense as thinking a Velociraptor and a Utahraptor would be close in size since they're both 'raptors.
